XG18 (Ground Floor, UON New Space Building), Cnr King and Auckland Streets , Newcastle, NSW, 2300, Australia.

The Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment and HunterWiSE proudly present: "The X Factor: Why We Need More Women Engineers"presented by Professor Elanor Huntington - Dean of Engineering and Computer Science at the Australian National University.

Professor Elanor Huntington believes the next great wave of engineering is coming and we are not prepared. With participation rates of women in engineering remaining stubbornly low, and the need for engineers ever increasing, she asks, what if women are the x-factor engineering needs?

Prof. Elanor Huntington is the first female Dean of Engineering and Computer Science at the Australian National University. She is committed to raising the profile of engineering in the community and is passionate about encouraging young women to get involved in STEM related studies.

Professor Huntington holds a PhD (2000) in experimental quantum optics from the ANU, and currently serves on the Board of Significant Capital Ventures.

Please come along at 5.30 for a 6.00pm start. Following Professor Huntington’s lecture a catered networking session will be held from 7.00pm - 7.30pm.
